Historiq Appoints Jay Bosanko as Chief Archivist to Bridge Professional Standards and Modern Technology
Jay Bosanko joins Historiq as Chief Archivist to guide human-in-the-loop workflows and align the platform with professional archival standards.
BOSTON, MA - Historiq, a pioneer in archivist-centric technology, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Bosanko as Chief Archivist. In this role, Jay will oversee the integration of professional archival standards into Historiq's technology platform, ensuring that the company's tools continue to serve the unique needs of the archive, library, and museum communities.
Jay joins Historiq with an extensive background in stewardship and collections management. He most recently served as the Deputy Archivist of the U.S. and retired in 2025 following more than 32 years of federal service with the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). A third-generation archives and libraries professional, Jay brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by archives, libraries, and museums. He arrives at a time when institutions worldwide are facing unprecedented processing backlogs. By prioritizing "human-in-the-loop" workflows, Jay will help lead our efforts to help these institutions transform unprocessed collections into discoverable and useable, public-facing assets.
"Joining Historiq as Chief Archivist is an exciting opportunity to impact how we interact with our collective past," said Jay Bosanko. "Our goal is to transform unprocessed collections into ones that are discoverable and useable. For too long, processing backlogs have frustrated their stewards and have impeded access. I look forward to keeping professional tenets and practices at the heart of our work as we make cultural heritage more accessible."
The appointment reinforces Historiq's commitment to bridging the gap between advanced technology and institutional rigor. By focusing on tools that complement rather than replace human expertise, Historiq continues to redefine the timeline of digital preservation.
