U.S. History Experts Join Forces to Form Historiq's Board, Make History Digitally Accessible

Distinguished industry leaders include former U.S. Archivists, historical researchers and authors, and leaders from renowned historical institutions.

BOSTON, November 19, 2025 – Historiq, a digital tool being built for archivists to help make history more accessible to the public, today announced its Board of Advisors.

The board brings together some of the country's most distinguished experts in the field to address the immense backlog of historical records that have yet to be transcribed, digitized, or cataloged – posing an incredible barrier to discovery and interpretation.

Historiq's Board of Advisors consists of historic leaders and researchers, including:

  • Dr. Colleen J. Shogan, 11th Archivist of the United States, Senior Advisor at More Perfect, Georgetown University Professor
  • Dr. Andrew Davenport, VP of Research, Thomas Jefferson Foundation
  • Michael Hill, Historian and Research Assistant to David McCullough, Author, co-producer of Ken Burns' The Civil War
  • Beth Hill, President and CEO of Fort Ticonderoga

The board is chaired by history education advocate, Rob Waldron, Board Member of the Massachusetts Historical Society, Boston Foundation, and Adams Presidential Center. Rob previously served as CEO of Curriculum Associates for 17 years, serving over 14 million students and educators. Now, he's committed to enhancing student engagement in civics and U.S. history by making history more interactive and accessible.

"This Board of Advisors brings together an esteemed group of leaders who have consistently pushed the boundaries of recording U.S. history," said Dean Serrentino, CEO and Founder of Historiq. "Their combined expertise and practical understanding of historical collections will be imperative to refining Historiq's solution to make unrecorded archives easily discoverable. Extraordinary collections of primary sources are waiting to be uncovered to accelerate the work of researchers and educators."

The board will work with Historiq's leadership to advise on product development in the critical early stages, shaping its digital solutions in the most impactful way. Leveraging their frontline perspectives, each member of the board will provide essential guidance and maximize the amount of historical institutions Historiq can reach with solutions to preserve history faster.

"Having seen firsthand the depth of our nation's history that's currently trapped in boxes, partnering with Historiq not only felt like an obvious choice, but an urgent one," said Shogan. "Archivists have been doing their jobs with limited tools for far too long. A solution to make their workflow more efficient is overdue and could be the difference in history being recorded or lost completely."
"Uncovering decades worth of historical artifacts should be the industry's number one priority; lacking the complete narrative of our nation's history will ultimately limit our capacity for civics literacy and the context needed for future decision-making," said Waldron.
